This is the painting that started it all.
My aunt had just built a stunning new house and asked me to create a painting for her.
I had not painted for a good decade - basically since high school. There were a few vain attempts to paint - but I had never finished anything.
My aunt was ever so trusting of me. . .she gave me the main entry area to her home; a wall, custom cut specifically to house art. And she gave it to me. A girl who had not finished a painting since Year 12 TEE.
Haha, no sweat. I can do it....
AND THEN...
My aunt asked me to do a second painting for her upstairs lounge. "Insert happy and slightly concerned smiley face." At this point I had not finished the first painting yet... "Smiley face... Okay aunty - I can do it for you!"
But I guess all it took was a bit of faith and trust. And off I went.
So here she is, the painting that reminded me just how much I loved to paint; the painting that started me down a whole new trajectory and lit a fire in my belly for an entirely new path.
This painting was my turning point. Looking back now, this is where I learnt the power of faith, trust and perseverance - because the possibilities now are endless.
PS. I finished the second painting too :)
